Elections have consequences … you elected us (hah-hah) … now, we’ll do what we damn well please (because we’re way smarter and way more moral than you are) … and, oh yeah, we won’t even let you see what we’re doing (you can’t handle the truth)
That’s what the politicians seem to be saying these days.
Practically every poll — save for ones fabricated by NBC, CBS, ABC — say the same thing: a CLEAR MAJORITY of Americans DISAPPROVE of current ObamaCare plans. RealClearPolitics’ poll of polls have the approve-disapprove split approaching 2/3s – 1/3.
Do the Washington nitwits really think that there won’t be mayhem and backlash if they ram in their half-baked programs?
Go figure.

Early critics of Hayek denounced him for his views of socialism. But I think he’s been shown to be correct. Any collectivist system which concentrates power within a central government, no matter how well-intentioned or not, is incompatible with individual freedoms and ultimately leads to totalitarianism.
What worries me is whether or not our system of checks and balances is actually breaking down. The government has reached such a critical mass that its growth and self-interest is self-sustaining. The Supreme Court, which is supposed to defend the Constitution, has actually continued to erode the power of the states and the people and further concentrate power in hands of the federal government. Now, the will of the people only matters if it happens to be an election year. And have no doubt, this health care plan will only steal more of the fruits of our labor and make us even more dependent on the government. Maybe that’s why Peolosi doesn’t care if she loses 20 seats in the next election. Because in the long-run, it will make us further slaves of the federal government and the Democrats, with their (unearned) reputation as the people’s party, will further cement its hold on our country.
