An interesting factoid from the Tax Foundation …
The scorned “wealthy” taxpayers — those earning more than $200 – $250k — work an average of 48.1 hours per week … those earning less than that amount dodge Obama’s tax arrow — they work an average of 38.8 hours per week.
In other words, on average, the wealthy tax targets work about 20% more hours than the Obama-classified non-wealthy.
Makes sense to punish them for working harder, right ?

What blows my mind is how often the Administration berates the top 1% or top 5% earners for not paying “enough” taxes. What about acknowledging the other side of the coin — i.e. that the top 1% represents 40% of total tax revenue, top 5% represents 60%, and the top 50% represents 98%!
If we look at the government as a business, is it really smart to bash a stakeholder base that works 20% harder than other segments and represents 60% of your revenue? Maybe our President should thank these folks instead of demonizing them.

Depends on what you mean by “works”. While it is far more complex than a Marxist critique like the one I’m lodging would make out, many of the rich don’t work that hard for their money unless you consider dealmaking hard work.
