Did you know that the “frontline” IRS employees involved in the IRS scandal are unionized?
Yep.
Members of NTEU – the National Treasury Employees Union.
So what?
First, like most government employee unions, the NTEU is all for bigger government and fatter retirement benefits.
So, it’s no big surprise that the union endorsed Obama for President.
Nothing shady there … strictly legal … and consistent with the employees’ interests.
But, here’s where things get interesting …
Federal employee unions can’t legally donate directly to political campaigns.
But, they can – and do – set-up PACS and ask members to “voluntarily” donate to the PACS.
President Colleen Kelley – who asks to be called “President Kelley” – frequently nudges members to ante in.
Here’s a clip of one of her calls for dough.

Again, nothing out-of-line … OK for unions to form PACS … and OK to ask for voluntary contributions.
But, raises a logical question: Where does the NTEU’s PAC money go?
Predictably, almost all of the NTEU’s PAC money goes to Democratic candidates.
In summary, the NTEU’s PAC endorsed President Obama in both 2008 and 2012, and gave hundreds of thousands of dollars in the 2010 and 2012 election cycles to anti-Tea Party candidates.
Hmmm.
Indication of a political leaning?
A mission?

Finally, here’s a “coincidence” that’s giving fuel to conspiracy theories.
The conservative American Spectator reports that ..
Shortly after the Supreme Court’s “Citizens United” ruling that greenlighted not-for-profit status for groups like local Tea Parties, President Kelley was a guest at the White House.
The White House log says that on March 31, 2010, she met with President Obama.
Hmmm.
No record of what they talked about, but …
The IG report wrote it up said:
“On April 1 or 2, 2010: The new Acting Manager, Technical Unit, suggested the need for a Sensitive Case Report on the Tea Party cases. The Determinations Unit Program Manager Agreed.”
English translation: a day or 2 after Obama met with the NTEU president, the process of targeting the Tea Parties for extra scrutiny was kicked-off.
Coincidence?
