Trick question.
CVS operates about 550 in store clinics under the the Minute Clinic brand umbrella.
More broadly, there are about 1,200 total in-store clinics … run by CVS, Walgreen, Wal-Mart, Kroger and Target.
Ken’s Take: These are great providers of routine health care … I’d like to see them spread like wild fire … and, I’d be all for government run “free clinics” in under-served urban and rural area.

99% of the time when I get sick I head to the Minute Clinic. Its just about always open (especially when its convenient for me to go) and its super quick. No need to trek to my Dr office to get a script for a bad back or sinus infection.

I agree, and not to split hairs, but CVS and WAG operate their clinics. Both clinic concepts were independently operated and subsequently bought by CVS and WAG.
Wally, on the other hand, outsources space to third-party providers. Duane Reade used to outsource and were actually using physicians and not just PAs and NPs. They may have kept them since WAG is operating them as a separate company, and it’s relatively easy to source MDs in the NY metro area. They mostly used Residents, who supplemented their incomes.
