Flashback: Now, isn’t shooting a cop a hate crime?

The shooting of 2 cops in Ferguson Wednesday night prompts the question again.

Below is a post from last December when the 2 NYC cops were shot dead.

At the time, some dismissed the assassinations as just the random act of a “crazy guy.”

Is this another “crazy guy” to  be shrugged off?

Looks to me like the Ferguson cops were shot because somebody hated them

Why hasn’t Holder airlifted the FBI to hunt down the perps?

Here’s the original post …

Now, isn’t shooting a cop a hate crime?
December 22, 2014

Today, we’ll be serious, not sarcastic.

As everybody should know by now …

“Without provocation, an attacker ambushed and killed officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos while they sat in their marked patrol car in the Bedford-Stuyvesant Area of Brooklyn … ‘They were quite simply assassinated, targeted for their uniform,’ Police Commissioner William Bratton said at a news conference.”

Earlier in the day, the killer  posted a photo of a silver handgun and a message on Instagram in which he talked about killing police officers “in retaliation for the deaths of  Garner and Brown.”

Let’s think about that for a moment …

A gang-dude kills two minority cops – an Asian and a Hispanic.

Think about that aspect of the case for a second.

More specifically, police say that “Some of the (killer’s) postings … would seem to indicate that he had a very strong bias against police officers.”

Kinda sounds like hate, doesn’t it.

So, shouldn’t Obama, Holder and de Blasio be shouting “hate crime” from their bully pulpits?

After all, a hate crime is defined as “a crime motivated by racial, sexual, or other prejudice, typically one involving violence.”

This case has prejudice against a class of people, and it certainly has violence.

What’s the so what?

For hate crimes, the full weight of the Feds falls on the perpetrator(s).

And, it puts some curbs on hate speech that incites such actions.

No more marching and chanting “What do we want? Dead cops.”

That would become hate speech, subject to the same government wrath as slurs against minority races or sexual orientations.

Might even motivate Obama, Holder and de Blasio to stop trashing the police.

Let’s not popularize shooting innocent cops.
