Here’s a variant of the question: Are you better off than you were 2 years ago?
=============
According to the mainstream media, America is going to hell in a handbasket.
Evidence: Only 40% of Americans think that the country is on track and moving in the right direction.
True, but let’s put that number in perspective…
===========
First, it’s very rare – at any point in time – that more than 40% think that the country is moving in the right direction.
During Obama’s honeymoon period right after his his first election, the right track number popped to about 45%.
Pundits chalk that up to his positive campaign message about uniting the country.
Note, though, the sharp decline (the orange oval above) … down to 19% in 2012.
The number bumped up to 41% – dropped to 17% – then settled in at around 30%.
That 30% was largely the impetus for Trump’s election … and the was the starting point for the Trump administration.
Since then, the the right track number has steadily increased to more-or-less tie Obama’s best scores.
Strikes me as a pretty good backdrop for tomorrow’s election…
As I like to ask my liberal friends: Which are you more opposed to, the peace or the prosperity?
