Even the mainstream media had to reluctantly agree…

The economy has been el fuego since Trump took office.

Last Friday’s jobs report was – by all measures – a blowout.

An exclamation point that the economy – save for the stock market – had a remarkable year.

The headline: 312,000 jobs added in December.

That’s more than the 176,000  that economists expected … and brought the 2018 total number of new jobs to more than 2.6 million.

Drilling down, the numbers are even more impressive …

The employment-to-population ratio among working age adults rounds to 80% … the all time high water mark.

And, according to the BLS:

1) The number of persons employed part time for economic reasons decreased by 329,000 over the year.

These individuals, who would have preferred full-time employment, were working part time because their hours had been reduced or they were unable to find full-time jobs.

2) The number of “discouraged workers” decreased by 99,000 from a year earlier.

Discouraged workers are persons not currently looking for work because they believe no jobs are available for them.

3) In December, average hourly earnings rose to $27.48 … 3.2% higher than a year ago.

It was entertaining to watch the MSM anchors grimace when reporting the numbers.

Gee, it most be demoralizing to be rooting for failure and have it not materialize.

Of course, some of the liberal commentators tried the “thank you (former) President Obama” riff … but, it was evident that they didn’t even believe what they were saying.

The best some could muster was “Trump policies have peaked – these results are repeatable or sustainable.”

As Trump would say: “Let’s see what happens.”
