Let’s compare NY (and its North East neighbors) to the spiking Sun Belt states.
=============
According to Gov. Cuomo, the fawning MSM and Dr. Anthony “First Pitch” Fauci:
Gov. Cuomo did a stellar job managing the covid crisis … and, all of the Sun Belt governors (except CA’s Gov. Newsome) are reckless dufasses.
Really?
I hate to ruin a good narrative with data, but since Gov. Cuomo says to follow the numbers…
Below is a current Covid recap for 4 North East states (NY, NJ, MA, CT) … 4 Sun Belt states (TX, FL, AZ, GA) … and California.
Here are a couple of takeaways….
=============
New York state alone has amassed about 50% more C-19 deaths than the 4 Sun Belt states ((TX, FL, AZ, GA) combined.
The 4 North East states have about 1/2 the population of the 4 Sun Belt states (57% to be precise) … but have amassed 2.8 times the number of C-19 deaths,
Said differently, the 4 North East states average 1,592 C-19 deaths per million … that’s about 5 times the Sun Belt 4’s average (322).
Roughly the same number of cases have been confirmed to date in the 4 North East states and the 4 Sun Belt states.
But, the ratio of deaths to confirmed cases is 4.7% in the 4 North East states … it’s 1.7% in the 4 Sun Belt states … almost 3 times higher in the the 4 North East states.
Finally, note that California’s numbers track comparably to the other Sun Belt states.
===============
Yeah, but the Sun Belt States are in the middle of the curve and the North East states are at the end of it…
The IHME has projected the number of covid deaths by state … out to Nov. 1:
Yes, the comparative numbers tighten a bit, but the fundamental conclusions stay the same.
- NY + NJ are projected to have more total deaths than the 4 Sun Belt states
- The per capita death rate in the 4 North East states is projected to be about 2-1/2 times that of the 4 Sunbelt states
- NY’s per capita death rate is projected to be about 6 times California’s
=============
So, tell me again why Cuomo gets plaudits and the Sun Belt governors get brickbats?
It’s doesn’t have anything to do with party affiliation, does it?
