Marijuana makes the news … twice this week!

Slot this one in the ‘you can’t make this stuff up” file.

I don’t really give a hoot about the legalization of marijuana one way or another.

But, I love ironic twists, so …

Story #1

According to NPR:

“The Obama administration has denied a bid by two Democratic governors to reconsider how it treats marijuana under federal drug control laws, keeping the drug for now, at least, in the most restrictive category for U.S. law enforcement purposes.”

“So, under federal law, marijuana remains a Schedule 1 controlled substance, which means it’s considered to have “no currently accepted medical use” and a “high potential for abuse.”

OK, so far so good.

Now, let’s advance the story …

Story #2

According to several non-mainstream news outfits:

“President Obama’s eldest daughter, who turned 18 on July 4 this year, was seen toking on a suspicious looking cigarette at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago.” Source

And, of course, several news outlets pulled an archived picture of dad from their files.

Again, I’m totally ambivalent on the marijuana issue.

Here’s what struck me as interesting:

1) Both stories on the same day … really?

2) Why no denials from the White House and no “kids are off-limits” chatter?

3) Where does a first-kid gets weed?

4) How does daddy reprimand with his stoking pic floating around?

Is it me, or is the world getting crazy?

  1. TTK Says:

you probably don’t care because you are white. While the last 3 Presidents have all admitted to using it, we still pretend it will make you a zombie. And we lock up a ton of black people for using even though whites use it at the same rate. But who cares.
