Where in the world is Dr. Ford?

Odds dropping that she’ll post at Thursday’s Senate hearing.

Trending are speculations that Dr. Ford will be a no-show on Thursday.

Her lawyers’ are griping that Grassley is “bullying” by bringing in an experienced sex crimes prosecutor to do the questioning.

I find that odd since their battle cry is “FBI investigation” … that they want unbiased law enforcement to dig deep into the case.

Perhaps Grassley should commission an experienced prosecutor who is a former FBI agent to do the questioning.

That would flatten out the surf…

A few other pivotal observations that you might have missed….

==============

“Lifelong friend” denies that there was a party … ever.

Ford told WaPo that another party attendee was a woman characterized as her BFF: Leland Ingham Keyser.

But, according to CNN,

On Saturday night, Keyer’s lawyer, Howard Walsh, released a statement to CNN and the Senate Judiciary Committee.

“Simply put,” Walsh said, “Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford.”

The lawyer acknowledged to CNN that Keyser is a lifelong friend of Ford’s.

Oops.

That means that Ford is oh-for-all on collaboration.

You can dismiss the statements of the 3 males because they are just guys protecting guys, right?

But, Ms. Keyser is a female friend … presumed truth-bearing.

My take: Having zero evidence and corroboration strikes me as a strong demotivator for making a public statement under oath.

So, I’m betting the under on her showing up.

Kavanaugh tips his testimony strategy.

On balance, I thought Kavanaugh’s interview on FOX was pretty lame.

Martha MacCallum’s questions were strong and on-point — certainly not fluff.

But, while Kavanaugh showed anguish and discipline,  his constant refrain that “I just want a fair process” didn’t work well as an evasion tactic on many questions and got annoying.

That said, there were a couple of “tells” buried in his answers.

First, he’ll emphatically deny both the party-specifics and the the general case (“I have never sexually abused any woman at any time.”).

Second, he’ll linchpin on a couple of key dismissal points … most notably, the lifelong friend’s statement.

Third, he’ll be disciplined and won’t  won’t throw out incidental points that give the interrogators new grounds to plow.

Fourth, expect to hear the line “Dr. Ford may have been sexually abused in the past, but it wasn’t by me.”

The last point brought to mind a point that caught my eye in one of the many WaPo stories…

Escaping her family’s “male-dominated environment”

Quoting Ford’s husband, Russell,  WaPo dissected her surf-motivated move to the west coast:

“There’s an exhilaration that happens as you ride a wave,” Russell said.

“Your entire focus is on the wave and, in that moment, there’s nothing else you’re thinking about.”

He knew that more than a love of water had brought her west.

“She didn’t always get along with her parents because of differing political views,” Russell said.

“It was a very male-dominated environment.

Everyone was interested in what’s going on with the men, and the women are sidelined, and she didn’t get the attention or respect she felt she deserved.

That’s why she went to California, to get away from the D.C. scene.”

Hmmm…

My take: A forensic psychologist would have a field day on that one.

Think about it…

We’ll see on Thursday … maybe, that ius.
