… it’s a constant steam of annoying emails.
Charities beware: it’s stopping me from donating to your cause.

A WSJ opinion piece resonated with me:
The opinionator opined:
I regret my donation (to Warnock’s campaign) every time I open my email inbox.
It has been flooded with continuing appeals for me to donate to the Warnock campaign.
The election is over, but that hasn’t ended this relentless barrage.
I sympathize with the author. My email inbox has been over run with Warnock’s pleas for money.
In itself, that’s weird since I don’t donate to any political campaigns and certainly wouldn’t toss cash into Warnock’s pot.
Gotta wonder how the Warnock campaign got my email address and targeted me.

OK, the Warnock email blast was the trigger … but this isn’t about politics or political campaigns … it’s about charity campaigns.
We’re in the process of selecting charities for year end donations.
May sound silly, but one of the inhibitors to our giving is the “poop on shoe” problem … we find that even a small donation opens the floodgates for an endless flow of solicitations from the specific charity … and from others who may have gotten our email address from the original charity directly or indirectly.
My point to charities: If you want me to donate, thank me … but don’t pester me with annoying emails throughout the year … at least give me an unsubscribe option (that actually unsubscribes me).
