WashPost deals Trump a turnaround card …

I can’t believe my eyes.

I’ve oft opined that the Washington Post is most biased of the Clinton-supportive print media.

Stories of the Post’s 30-person Trump attack team are widespread and not denied by the paper.

So, imagine my surprise when I saw the headline:

The article is a thorough investigative story — not an opinion piece.

Here’s the short version of the story …

According to the Washington Post

The promise:

A day after announcing her 2000 (Senate) candidacy, then-first lady Clinton vowed to infuse more than a half billion dollars into the upstate N.Y. economy.

A television ad ran just before the election, citing the 200,000 new jobs goal.

The results:

But nearly eight years after Clinton’s Senate exit, there is little evidence that her economic development programs had a substantial impact on upstate employment.

Clinton has touted success with cosmetic projects that created few jobs

Upstate N.Y. job growth stagnated overall during her tenure, with manufacturing jobs plunging nearly 25 percent.

Many promised jobs never materialized and others migrated to other states.

The “to be expected”:

Clinton’s self-styled role as economic promoter also showcases an operating style that has come to define the political and money-making machine known to some critics of the former first couple as Clinton Inc.

Some of her pet economic projects involved loyal campaign contributors, who also supported the Clinton Foundation.

Why it’s important:

Again, according to WaPo:

In her presidential bid, Hillary Clinton has made job creation a centerpiece of her platform.

She has  cast herself as a pragmatist who would inspire “the biggest investment in new, good-paying jobs since World War II.’’

Later today, Trump is scheduled to unveil the details of his economic plan  in a Detroit speech.

His team must be giddy … working furiously to include damning quotes from – of all places — the Washington Post.

If Trump can’t capitalize on this gift – red meat, perfectly timed — then he doesn’t deserve the ultimate prize.

Stay tuned.  It’s a wild and crazy …
